除了现已确定要推出的前传美剧《House of the Dragon》外，日前《Variety》独家报导指出，电视网正开发另一部前传衍生剧，根据乔治马丁（George R. R. Martin）所着系列短篇小说集《邓肯与伊戈》（Tales of Dunk and Egg，中文暂译）所改编。
而根据《Hollywood Reporter》最新报导指出，除了真人版衍生剧外，相关新作有可能以动画形式呈现。
报导中的消息来源透露，HBO Max 正开发《冰与火之歌：权力游戏》的动画剧集，目前处于早期开发阶段。高层正与数名编剧进行会面，但尚未签订合约。
消息来源进一步表示，由 HBO 节目部主管法兰丝卡奥尔西（Francesca Orsi）率领的团队正密切与原着作者乔治马丁合作，建立起《冰与火之歌：权力游戏》庞大世界观，延伸整体故事的版图。
第一部预订成季的衍生剧《House of the Dragon》将以 ” 龙族 ” 为主，背景设定在《冰与火之歌》事件发生的 300 年前，描述坦格利安家族（House Targaryen）的兴起与衰落。
