《魔戒：力量之戒》背景设定在”第二纪元”（The Second Age）世界，始于一个相对和平的时代，聚焦一群角色——有我们熟悉的，也有陌生的——描述他们面对长久以来的恐惧，即中土世界邪恶势力再次崛起。从迷雾山脉（Misty Mountains）最黑暗的深处、精灵之都林顿（Lindon）宏伟的森林，到令人叹为观止的岛国努曼诺尔（Númenor），再到地图所及最遥远的地方，这些王国和人物的行迹将开辟出永世传唱的不朽传奇。
